WASL Testing is Under Way at CMJH

April 20, 2007 - Students at Cougar Mountain Junior High began taking the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) this past week. The WASL is a state and federally mandated assessment to measure student learning of public school students in various subject areas.
Seventh grade students take the math, reading, and writing WASL. Eighth grade students take the math, reading, and science WASL. Students take two assessments for each section.
WASL testing will occur at CMJH from April 17 to May 4. Results will be available to schools, students, and parents in the fall of 2007.
Passing the WASL is now a requirement for High school graduation. Student must pass all sections of the WASL (reading, writing, math, and science) in tenth grade. There has been considerable legislative debate on this requirement. Stay tuned. . .
