Battle of the Books Competition Held

March 27, 2006 - The Cougar Mountain Junior High Battle of the Books Competition took place in the CMJH Commons during first period on Friday, March 24, 2006. Seventeen teams of four students each (68 students total) competed by answering 25 questions about the fourteen books on this year's Bethel School District junior high list.
The competition was close! Nine of the seventeen teams answered twenty or more of the questions right. The winning team of Dakota Peabody, Rhonda Risovi, Sierra Schleining, and Kylee Jones will go on to the district competition. This is their third year competing in the Battle of the Books competition. The District Competition will be held at Graham-Kapowsin High School on Thursday, March 30th at 7 :00 PM in the auditorium.
CMJH Librarian and event organizer, Barb Shadle, was happy with the competition and commented, "We had more teams compete this year than ever before. I am very proud of our ninth graders because they have been committed to this program for three years and have done wonderfully. I hope that the seventh and eighth graders continue this fine legacy."
Mr. Anderson, CMJH Principal, served as the M. C. for the event. He said, "I am extremely proud of the number of students that participated this year and I looking forward to defending our district championship from last year."
Mr. Anderson also wanted to thank Librarian Barb Shadle and Reading Specialist Chris English for all of their hard work organizing the event.
Congratulations to all of our great teams!
