Cougars Step for Fitness

May 4 , 2006 - The “Live It/Step with It” program was donated to our health and fitness classes by Coca-Cola. Students are given a stepometer to record their daily steps. The goal is at least 10,000 steps a day, however, it is best for boys to be around 13,000 steps and girls around 11,000 steps.

Every 2000 steps equals one mile. Many students increased their activity level to try to meet their goals. We started in April and students were to record their steps for 10 days straight. Many staff members also participated in the activity. Mrs. Barger, our head custodian, leads most steps.

Other activities (10 min.) and their step equivalents:

Trampoline: 1,095

Yard Work: 1,768

Golfing: 1,095

Hacky Sack 1,263

Horseback riding: 1,263
