Safety Information from Principal Anderson:

Recently in the district we have experienced an increase in the number of incidents involving the use of physical violence. Better known as “fighting in school.” Opinions differ as to what causes this negative behavior to occur, but many non-experts attribute poor student behavior to a “full moon,” while others will say that the increase is a result of poor peer communication skills.

Whatever the reason, I encourage all parents to take the time to sit down with your child and go over with them the proper steps to take in solving a disagreement with one of their peers. At CMJH, we have had several Expectations Assemblies where we have stressed with our students the importance of respecting one another and putting all of their energies into their academics. We have even used our Cougar Mountain Daily Announcements to promote a safe learning environment and have increased the days that one may be suspended, if involved in a fight, from three days to ten days.
