Attendance
Attendance Clerk: Mrs. Palfenier
Phone Number: (253) 683-8092
Attendance Expectations:
All Cougar Mountain Junior High students are expected to attend on a regular basis. Daily attendance is one of the keys to a student’s educational success. Every subject taught in the system requires a student’s active and continuous involvement in order to develop skills and learning of the particular subject. Most classroom experiences can not be duplicated on an individual basis. In order to be successful, the student must be in the school.
Late or Absence:
A note or phone call from home is required. When students return from an absence they need to report to the attendance window prior to the start of school.
Leaving Early:
Bring a note from home and turn it into the attendance office in the morning to receive an early dismissal pass.
Homework Request:
If the absence is for more than three days, assignments can be collected on request. Requested make-up work may be collected the following day after 1:50 p.m.
Planned Absence:
A parent/guardian note is required for lengthy absences. Assignments may be requested ahead of the absence.
Excused Absence:
Regular school attendance is necessary for mastery of the educational program provided to students of the district. Students at times may appropriately be absent from class.
Absence due to illness or health condition; a religious observance, when requested by a student’s parents; school-approved activities; family emergencies, required by law, disciplinary actions or short term suspensions shall be excused. The principal may, upon request by a parent, grant permission in advance for a student’s absence providing such absence does not adversely affect the student’s educational progress. A student, upon the request of a parent, may be excused for a portion of school day to participate in religious instruction provide such is not conducted on school property, or involves the school in any degree.
