Options, Choices, and Consequences

 

Students who choose to ignore behavior expectation, or who interfere with others are making a conscious decision, have these consequences:

Step One:

  • In class reflection

Step Two:

  • Moved away from instruction
  • Letter sent home

Step Three:

  • Removal to Buddy Room
  • Staff member calls home
  • Teachers assign detention (lunch/school)

Step Four:

  • Removal from class by Campus Safety (if needed)
  • Staff member calls home
  • Administrator receives step four form
  • Progressive Consequences are assigned

Discipline Referral: (For serious/severe behaviors)

  • Removal from class by Campus Safety
  • Staff member calls home
  • Administrator receives Discipline Referral
  • Progressive Consequences are assigned

10 Point List

Student who regularly or severely misbehave will not be rewarded or allowed to attend optional or extra-curricular activities.

Discipline points are given when misconduct occurs. Students can earn from one to ten points depending on the severity of the misconduct. Students who earn ten or more discipline points are restricted from participating in assemblies, dances, field trips, sporting events, plays, and concerts. Students may participate in evening activities only if they are directly involved in the activity.

A student who has received points for rule violations can reduce their points as their behavior and classroom performance improves. Discipline points will be reducing as follows: one point for each week the student does not have any tardies or office referrals. Students who do not have any office referrals for thirty consecutive days may arrange for a conference with an administrator and have their points set aside allowing them to participate in activities again.

Discipline points are often earned in addition to the disciplinary actions that are assigned to the student for their behaviors. The following will give you an idea of the points that will be earned for different infractions.

Other forms of discipline that are used hand in hand with the point system to address behavior concerns are detentions (lunch, before school, and after school), community service, and suspension.

Behavior off/near school grounds or at bus stops may be subject to disciplinary action if the administrator decides that the situation can possibly interfere with the academic or social expectations when at school.
