Cougar Mountain Junior High School prides itself on creating an educational environment which maximizes opportunities for academic achievement and appropriate social growth. We believe that "no one has the right to interfere with the learning, safety, or well-being of others." Any behavior that attempts to interfere with these goals will be considered a violation of school rules. In an effort to focus on the positive, our planner/handbook will not attempt to exhaustively list all unacceptable behaviors. Rather, we will give a guide to our school expectations and encourage students and parents to discuss with school staff or administration any behaviors of concern before they occur.

District Policy guides our discipline decisions for serious or repeated offenses. Offenses, which are or have the potential of being illegal, will result in contact with the Pierce County Sheriff. Discipline decisions for offenses less serious in nature are left to the discretion of the school staff and the building administration.

At CMJH we expect appropriate behaviors from our students, staff, and community. Our building climate theme is the 3 R’s – respect yourself, respect others, and respect your school.
