WASL Word of the Week - Predict: To tell about or make known in advance, especially on the basis of special knowledge or inference.
The Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) is a state level standardized test that tests student's knowledge, skills and understanding of the abilities outlined in Washington state's Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALR's, see Standards page).
There are currently four different sections of the WASL: reading, writing, math and science that are taken at various times by students in grade levels from 3rd to 10th grade. Passing the WASL in 10th grade is currently required to graduate from any of Washington's public high schools.
The links to the left are intended to help students practice the WASL and understand what is expected of them and for parents to learn about the test that their children will be taking. More information about the WASL can be found at the web site of the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
