Welcome, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students, to Cougar Mountain Junior High School Handbook. This year we will have approximately 800 students, attending classes so it is very important that we all follow school rules. We are also welcoming several new staff members so make their first year at CMJH welcoming and remember the three R's.

You will feel safe and respected while attending CMJH. At Cougar Mountain we expect respect from both staff and students. We believe in the three R's-Respects yourself, Respect others, and Respect your school. No one has the right to interfere with the learning, safety, or well-being of others. Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and will result in progressive consequences.

This Student Handbook gives you basic school information regarding curriculum, procedures and rules. It will also provide you with the tools to be organized and successful during the school year. Use the tools you have been provided. Our building academic focus is on Math and Reading with a cross curricular emphasis on Integrating Technology into all subject areas.

Cougar Mountain strives to develop programs that meet the needs and interests of our students and community. Honors, At-Risk, and Special Education Programs are provided for qualifying students attending Cougar Mountain.

Students are encouraged to participate in extra curricular events such as athletics and/or ASB (student government). This is a great opportunity for students to take an active role in the decision-making process while representing their perspective grade levels.

We welcome you to Cougar Mountain Junior High and hope that this year is a positive experience for you and your family. Go Cougs!
